Optimal Diameter Growth Equations for Major Tree Species of the Midsouth
نویسنده
چکیده
Optimal diameter growth equations for 60 major tree species werefit using the potential relat ive increment (PRI) methodology. Almost 175,000 individualsfrom the Midsouth (Arkansas , Louis iana, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas) were selectedfrom the USDA Forest Service’s Eastwide Forest Inventory Database (EFIDB). These records were then reduced to the individualsgrowing at thefastest rategiven their species and size, and nonlinear ordinary least squares regression was used toJt equations to a subset of points wi th maximal increment . Sugarberry is provided as an example ofthe PRIderivation process . South. J. Appl. For. 27(l):%10.

Estimating Height and Diameter Growth of Some Street Trees in Urban Green Spaces
Estimating urban trees growth, especially tree height is very important in urban landscape management. The aim of the study was to predict of tree height base on tree diameter. To achieve this goal, 921 trees from five species were measured in five areas of Mashhad city in 2014. The evaluated trees were ash tree (Fraxinus species), plane tree (Platanus hybrida), white mulberry (Morus alba), ail...
متن کاملThe Efficacy of Using Inventory Data to Develop Optimal Diameter Increment Models
—Most optimal tree diameter growth models have arisen through either the conceptualization of physiological processes or the adaptation of empirical increment models. However, surprisingly little effort has been invested in the melding of these approaches even though it is possible to develop theoretically sound, computationally efficient optimal tree growth models using inventory data. The Pot...
متن کاملBehavior and sensitivity of an optimal tree diameter growth model under data uncertainty
Using loblolly pine, shortleaf pine, white oak, and northern red oak as examples, this paper considers the behavior of potential relative increment (PRI) models of optimal tree diameter growth under data uncertainty. Recommendations on initial sample size and the PRI iterative curve fitting process are provided. Combining different state inventories prior to PRI model development increased samp...
متن کاملPotential relative increment (PRI): a new method to empirically derive optimal tree diameter growth
Potential relative increment (PRI) is a new method to derive optimal diameter growth equations using inventory information from a large public database. Optimal growth equations for 24 species were developed using plot and tree records from several states (Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin) of the north central US. Most species were represented by thousands of individuals measured across an ex...
متن کاملپیشبینی میزان رشد ابعاد مختلف زیتون تلخ(Melia azedarach) و توت زینتی (Morus alba) در فضای سبز شهری
Determination of growth rate and planting space of trees in urban spaces is needed for the planting design programs and land scape management. To determine the growth rate of two tree species, Chinaberry (Melia azedarach) and Mulberry (Morus alba), data was collected on different dimensions of these trees including, tree height, tree crown height and tree crown diameter at various ages at Pardi...
